Here are 5 foods you should avoid while breastfeeding;
Fried and fatty food
Breastfeeding mother needs to consume more calories because you need to take care of your baby’s dietary requirements. But as much as you need to eat more calories, avoid food that are high in trans and saturated fats because they can make your baby obese
Coffee and chocolate contain caffeine that can wind up in your breast milk. The baby’s system can’t process caffeine like that of adult adult which leads to it being stored in their body. It can cause gas, irritation and sleeplessness to your baby.
Food that is Spicy
Breastfeeding mother needs to avoid spicy food, because too much heat and spices can cause acidity.
Citrus fruits like Oranges, Lemon, Lime, etc. can cause acidity in you and your baby. Some of the compounds in citrus fruits can be irritating and cause fussiness, or diaper rash. Take some pineapple if you are craving for vitamin c.
Breastfeeding mothers should avoid Peppermint because it can lessen breast milk supply. If you must use peppermint, small quantities shouldn’t cause an issue, but be aware of any dips following eating either—especially if you’re coming up on a growth spurt where baby is going to be hungrier than usual.
